A bar? A brewery? Both?

I'll explain what a taproom is, why it's the most authentic way to drink craft (artisanal) beer, and what awaits you at ours from this autumn.

A bar? A brewery?

'Taproom', literally 'the room of taps'. It's quite simply a brewery's bar, set up where the beer is made. You taste it a few metres from the tank that gave birth to it. You can't get any closer to the source.

The concept comes from the American craft movement: rather than selling everything through distributors, brewers opened their doors to serve their beer directly on their premises, with no middleman. The idea crossed the Atlantic.

Concretely, in a taproom you'll find a tap list (a selection of beers) that rotates with each brew, year-round beers and limited ones. No fancy kitchen, but enough to nibble alongside. The vibe is authentic, just like the brewery. You're also as close as it gets to production: the tanks, the smells of brewing, the sounds of the brewery and the whole world of making beer are part of the experience.

And let's really talk about freshness. A beer served straight at the brewery is handled as little as possible, without the many movements, transports and temperature changes it can go through in a classic distribution chain. We serve it at the right pressure and the right temperature, often a little less icy than you'd think, because a beer that's too cold puts its aromas to sleep. It is, quite simply, the beer in its best possible condition.

The other draw is the encounter: you chat with the people who brew, you understand what you're drinking, you taste different recipes and you find the one that suits you. It's the best place to find YOUR beer.

Ours opens this autumn, in Geispolsheim, in our new premises: eight taps, a snacking corner, events, good music and above all the urge to welcome you like family. We can't wait to pour you the first one.
