Can over bottle: we own it.

Why are our beers in cans and never in bottles? It all comes down to two invisible enemies: light and air. We explain it simply, but we know what we're talking about.

Can over bottle:

We often get the question: why cans, and not bottles like 'real beers'? Good question. The answer comes down to two words: light and air. They're the two worst enemies of a fresh beer, and the can knocks both out. Promise, we'll explain without drowning you in jargon.

First enemy: light. Have you ever smelled that weird, slightly 'skunky' odour on a beer left in the sun? It's not in your head. Light attacks the hops and creates that off-flavour, in the trade we call it 'lightstruck'. A green bottle protects almost nothing, a brown bottle stops part of it, but a can is completely opaque: zero light gets through, zero problem. On our hop-loaded beers, it's non-negotiable.

Second enemy: air. Oxygen ages beer exactly the way it browns a slice of apple left out on the table: the aromas fade, the fruit flattens, and after a few weeks it takes on a slight cardboard taste. When we fill the can, we drive out the air as much as possible and seal it perfectly airtight. So the beer you open is as close as possible to the one fresh from the tank.

'But cans give a metallic taste, no?' That's the big myth. In reality, the inside is coated with a thin food-grade lacquer: your beer never touches the aluminium. That famous metal taste is almost always just the rim of the can on your lips. Pour it into a glass, it also releases the aromas, and you'll never think about it again.

And then there's the practical side. A can is light, it cools faster than a bottle, it doesn't break and it slips in anywhere, beach bag, hike, packed fridge. For the planet, aluminium is recycled almost infinitely using very little energy, as long as you put it in the right bin. Hard to be more convenient.

We won't tell you the can is magic either. Once opened, it doesn't reseal, and a few rare beers made to age for years still prefer the cellar and the bottle. But for what we brew, fresh, aromatic beers meant to be drunk young, there's no contest.

Bottom line, it's not a question of style or fashion. It's simply the best box to protect what took us weeks to brew: light and air out, flavour in. Fancy a taste? Our cans are in the shop.
